Holding forth the Word to skeptics

Jeremy saw the billboard that says, Where are you going, heaven or hell? and called. He assumed the Bible was just a made-up storybook and felt like a person has to be gullible to believe the Bible. Our team member assured him that more than forty authors wrote the Bible over a period of 1,500 years. He also explained that over 5,000 archeological digs have uncovered proof of the Bible’s historicity and give creditability to the accuracy of the Bible. Jeremy was amazed and welcomed a Bible and Gospel literature.

“I saw your billboard,” said Marvin. “I just wanted to call and argue.” Marvin is a thirty-two-year-old father of two sons. He said, “I lost my faith as an adolescent and I don’t trust the Bible.” Our team member patiently answered Marvin’s questions and shared his testimony with him. He explained Billboard Evangelism and encouraged Marvin to actually read the New Testament. Marvin accepted the Matthew challenge* and committed to reading as directed. He asked for our team member’s extension number and told him he would like to call again.

According to a survey done by statista.com in recent years, around thirty percent of Americans like Jeremy and Marvin do not read the Bible. Frustrations are that the Bible is a heavy read that is hard to understand. However, eleven percent read the Bible every day and many others express their desire to read it.

Our desire is to be students of the Word of God and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks us a reason for the hope that is in us with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15). We want to hold forth the Word of life, that we may rejoice in the day of Christ that we have not run in vain, neither labored in vain (Philippians 2:16).
