One afternoon a phone team member answered a call from 32-year-old Elijah.* As Elijah spoke, one could sense a soul longing for hope. Our team member asked, “Were you happy with those things when you did them?” After a pause, Elijah admitted that his sins left him feeling emptier than before and fueled his fear that he was beyond God’s grace. A warm answer came through the phone line, assuring him that God’s loving arms are always open to those who repent and surrender their hearts to Jesus.

Our team member gladly explained how the kingdom of heaven offers the life God intended—one that can satisfy our deepest desires. Elijah listened with renewed interest and eagerly accepted an invitation to attend a local Anabaptist church. He received the name of the pastor who could help him cultivate relationships in a caring church community.
Before ending the call, our team member prayed with Elijah, asking God to lead him into a place of complete trust. He also shared online resources, including worship messages and spiritual readings. As they said goodbye, Elijah expressed gratefulness for the hope he had found and for a chance to learn more about the Lord.
