“Will You Pray for Me?”

In early June, a Mennonite group was in Los Angeles singing and handing out tracts connected with a CAM billboard message. A well-dressed man with a tract in his hand stopped to listen, enjoying the rhythm of the music. When he walked on up the street, one of the Mennonite men followed him. After they shook hands, the man said, “I’m Charles.* Are you Mormons?”

“No, we’re Mennonites,” was the response. Charles asked if the group was from L.A. Our brother replied, “No, we’re from a number of different states and are here to sing, hand out Christian literature, and remind people of the claim that Jesus has on their lives.”

Charles was glad the man had approached him. He shared about growing up Catholic, about becoming an atheist, and about studying Buddhism and Islam. Charles planned on converting to Islam, but he kept coming back to Jesus. He decided to become Catholic again. He also told of a time 12 years ago when his father was intoxicated and demanded that Charles take him to where his motorcycle was parked. Charles said his father was bigger and stronger than him, so he really didn’t have a choice. His father rode off on the motorcycle and was killed.

Charles asked our brother, “Will you pray for me?” People like Charles are being reached with the Gospel message of Jesus by Christian brothers and sisters. Whether it’s through your donations for billboard messages across the USA, literature distribution in connection with those messages, or your prayers, you are helping lost and hurting people hear about the love of Jesus.
