“God Covered My Children”

War shattered Ali’s* life into pieces. Two years ago, armed groups stormed into his village in Syria, forcing him to gather his loved ones and flee on foot. “I carried my disabled children, my elderly mother, and we fled,” Ali told our contact. “We left everything behind—even our clothes.”

Before the attack, Ali had a stable life. “We lived in peace,” he recalled. “I worked the land beside our home, we built a house with our own hands.”

Scared and tired, the family traipsed across the countryside, eventually finding a single, unfinished room in a crowded neighborhood. The building has no proper insulation, no appliances—just bare, damp walls.

Each day, Ali walks the streets, collecting discarded cardboard and stale bread to sell for a few coins. “The hardest part is caring for my mother and disabled children,” Ali shared. “Diapers, medicine, and food are always more than I can afford.” Two of Ali’s children have severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which makes them unable to walk or talk.

As winter approached, the cold became another daily struggle for Ali and his family. The dwelling the family now calls home has no heating, thin walls, and gaps that allow icy air to enter. Ali’s two disabled children are especially vulnerable, often lying on the floor with little protection from the cold.

When the family received thick winter blankets provided by CAM, Ali said gratefully, “This blanket is a mercy from God. Through the Church, God covered my children and reminded us that He sees us.”

Ali’s wife added, “As a mother, I cannot describe what it means to see my children nourished and warm. Now I feel peace in my heart.” Ali concluded quietly, “Knowing there are people who help without bias reminds us that God has not forgotten us.”

Blankets—a ministry beyond warmth

Blankets provide a valuable source of warmth, but they are much more than a way to keep out the chill at night. “It’s not only a blanket; it is the feeling that someone cares,” said a Yemeni recipient.

A Syrian believer who helped distribute blankets said, “For many families, the blankets are not only warmth against winter, but a living sign of God’s love, restoring dignity and strengthening faith during a season of suffering.”

Each year, CAM receives many requests for warm blankets from Yemen, Afghanistan, and South Asia. While we ship donated comforters to numerous places, the supply doesn’t nearly meet the demand. Additionally, it is not possible or financially feasible to ship aid into some countries. Supporters’ funds to purchase warm blankets are a huge blessing to those in need.

Thank you, supporters, for helping shivering people around the world receive blankets in Jesus’ name. God bless you!
