Across the globe, children are found in terrible situations. In the following accounts, our staff and contacts supported by Child Rescue made a difference for these innocent ones.
In Kenya
Life is not easy for young girls in the Samburu tribe of Kenya. After turning six, one girl became responsible for keeping the family’s sheep and goats safe from leopards and other dangers.
Now twelve years old, she would soon be forced to marry. Many of her friends, including some several years younger than her, were already married.
However, CAM staff recently intervened to help send her to a rescue center where she can go to school.
Sadly, not every child is as fortunate.
Another 12-year-old tribal girl was caught in a similar predicament. Although she was married, she returned home to her father’s house.
Our staff members pleaded with her father to let them help his daughter. He refused their aid and ended the discussion.
In Mexico
At 11, David* became an orphan and a year later was being paid to deliver drugs.
After his uncle found out about his illegal activities, he brought David to a safe home in Mexico that CAM supports. Here he couldn’t be in contact with the terrible influences that had surrounded him.
After some struggles, David made a remarkable turnaround by committing to follow the Lord and by learning to work and save money.
In Asia
Coming from a destitute family with a drunkard father, Adhira* was sent out to beg in an Asian railroad station.
She chose a stopped train and went inside to beg. Suddenly she felt the train moving, but it was too late for her to get out. It took her far from home, and she got off in the bustling chaos of a huge railroad station in the capital city.
Unsure what to do next, Adhira wandered around the crowded station. A passerby noticed her distress and informed the police.
Adhira was taken to a home that provides her with a safe and secure environment. Although efforts to find her family have been fruitless, Adhira has found security in her new home.
Had she not been rescued, Adhira may well have faced abuse at the hands of human traffickers. Many lost children like her have fallen victim to greedy characters looking to make a profit.
