Deep sorrow reflected in Kara’s* dark eyes. She lived with her family in South Asia, where extreme poverty and an alcoholic father forced her to venture out on the streets, scavenging to provide for herself.
A wealthy family noted Kara’s vulnerability and grabbed the opportunity to use her for their greed and
profit. When they offered her a job as a housemaid, she eagerly accepted. But sadly, instead of finding a safe, loving environment, Kara was mistreated, abused, and exploited. One day her cruel master burned her with hot metal, leaving physical and emotional scars.
Kara’s life came to a turning point when a neighbor intervened, recognizing the horrific abuse. The neighbor alerted the authorities, and the family was arrested for their crimes. Kara was taken to a home where caring believers provided food, safety, and trauma counseling. Here, twelve-year-old Kara heard about the love of Jesus for the first time! She is enrolled in school, where she is receiving an education and learning a vocation that will eventually help her provide for herself.
Through the Child Rescue program, children like Kara have a chance for a better life. Thank you for bringing hope to young, vulnerable souls.
