The wildfires near Los Angeles continue to cause much destruction. The blazes started January 7 and are fueled by the fierce Santa Ana winds and the lack of any substantial rainfall in the past eight months. As of January 16, more than 12,300 homes have been destroyed by the fire. Approximately 38,600 acres have been burned by the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires. Thousands have evacuated their homes and many are without power. Many homes and businesses, though untouched by the fire, sustained substantial smoke damage.
CAM’s California Rapid Response team is exploring options and investigating needs and opportunities to help. Several team members, a chaplain, and a contact person will be traveling to the area to meet with contacts to discuss ways to help if possible.
Please pray for:
- The California Rapid Response team and the Rapid Response management as they research opportunities to help.
- The homeowners who suddenly lost their homes in the fire.
- Those evacuated from the fire zones, with uncertainty of what will happen to their homes.
- Chaplains, as they look for ways to reach out to evacuees.
- People’s hearts to soften and turn to the greatest source of help—Jesus Christ.
