Many of the trees that once covered Haiti’s beautiful landscape have been cut down, and erosion has become a serious problem. At the CAM nursery in La Source, Haiti, workers produce thousands of trees every year which are then planted in the surrounding countryside. Numerous forest plots are now growing in the area.

Nelson Shrock, a CAM staff member in La Source, Haiti, tells this story. “In one area of Haiti that is particularly barren and dry, we found a man interested in participating in the Grow-A-Tree project. Much to everyone’s astonishment, he now has a beautiful forest of young trees, which he says he will never cut down. He says, ‘I intend to leave it as a landmark for all to see.’”
