The tiny house made of wood, tin, and plastic that Lorenzo and Zenelia called home barely provided adequate shelter from the Nicaraguan weather. During the rainy season, the dirt floor did not provide much comfort.
Despite being 86 years old, Lorenzo does odd jobs with his machete, cleans yards, or sells his wife’s nursery plants by the road. Their two grown sons live at home intermittently but sadly do not contribute much to their parents’ limited income.
Through our House for a Poor Family program, CAM supporters provided Lorenzo and Zenelia with a new concrete house with a metal roof. After removing the sides of their old house, Lorenzo and Zenelia use it to do their laundry during the rainy season and to shelter their chickens.
