In January of this year, a group of cattle herders in South Sudan attacked innocent communities of the Madi and Achowli people groups. These raiders let their cattle loose on farms and began burning homes, killing innocent people, pillaging villages, and stealing cattle to expand their herds. Thousands of people fled with only the clothes on their backs.
After a few weeks of displacement, the Madi and Achowli people were directed to return to their villages and begin the difficult task of rebuilding. Many live outdoors as they rebuild, and the current rainy season adds to their difficulties. They need mats, tarps for temporary shelters, food, medicines, blankets, and clothing since they lost nearly everything. CAM is helping to provide these items as well as building materials for new homes. We are also utilizing this opportunity to spread the Gospel through Bibles and a caring Christian presence.
