A street on the island of Carriaccou lined with destruction from Hurricane Beryl.

Picking up the pieces of Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl’s winds and flooding have left thousands across the Caribbean grappling with loss. CAM’s main focus in the aftermath has been in Grenada. It was one of the first areas hit by the deadly storm. Two staff members spent this week in Grenada to find out how to best help people recover.

The heaviest damage was found on Carriacou, an island to the north of Grenada’s main island.

  • Most of the island’s 10,000 residents are currently without electricity.
  • An estimated 80% of roofs are missing or heavily damaged. Since most residents relied on roof rainwater collection systems, they are now without water or adequate shelter.
  • At this time, it appears that food is not a major need

We aim to lend a helping hand by tarping roofs and cleaning up debris. Our ultimate goal is to share the love of Jesus with the people of Grenada. If you would like to help them in their time of need, your support will be a blessing.
