Q: How many years has the Jericho Road Program been operating?
A: A street ministry, which later became Jericho Road Program, started in 1999.
Q: What was the reason or need when it was first started?
A: The need was to nurture, mentor, and support the Gypsy people. God promised in Isaiah 61:1–3 to create beauty from ashes.
Q: Where does the work of Jericho Road Program take place?
A: The program functions largely within a 50-mile radius of our headquarters in Suceava, Romania.
Q: What kind of people does this ministry reach out to?
A: We reach out to the subculture of Romania, which is the Gypsy people, and especially children.
Q: How has the program changed over the years, and what is its purpose today?
A: The purpose remains the same as from the beginning. However, when converts resulting from this outreach entered our local Mennonite church, our focus shifted to nurturing those who had joined the faith. This affects a wide spectrum of life: educational, medical, marital, physical, social, and spiritual. We have our largest work among children, although we seek to minister to all ages.
Q: What are some blessings you have experienced through Jericho Road?
A: There has been no greater joy than to see repentance and a major life change in the ones who have decided to follow Jesus! A member who had joined our church after making a huge life change excitedly related how a couple who had fallen away from God rededicated their lives to the Lord. Besides that, two teenage girls decided to serve the Lord! The greatest blessing is the anticipation of sharing eternal joys in heaven with the faithful who have been ransomed from the gutters of sin and are overcomers!
