The repair project includes replacing doors and windows, painting walls damaged by the spray of broken glass, and fixing electrical and plumbing fixtures. Cleaning supplies, food, and other essential items will be provided for approximately 750 families affected by the explosion.

CAM plans to work with contacts to reach out in various ways. One of these ways will be to help repair houses that sustained damage from the explosion.

Structures within five miles of the explosion sustained extensive damage and broken windows, leaving more than 300,000 people without homes.

Akhil, who is blind, and his mother and siblings are grateful to know they will soon receive a food parcel.

In the Middle East, boys and girls often attend separate schools after the first several years of school. In Iraqi camps, schools aren’t big enough for everyone to attend at one time, so boys and girls take turns.

Many homes like these were destroyed by a phenomenon known as liquefaction, when an earthquake causes the ground to become like jelly and buildings flow sideways.

Due to an unusually heavy rainy season, some areas flooded several times. Some dwellings still stood in flood water when our staff distributed aid.

Many families experienced total loss as flood waters from Hurricane Nate damaged their homes and washed away their meager supplies and furnishings.

One Mosul doctor noted that all Mosul residents have post-traumatic stress disorder—all are in need of help, he said.

In IDP camps near Mosul, many are grieving the loss of family members and struggling with the shortage of food, clean water, and medical care. CAM is ministering to needs through medical care, food, hygiene kits, soap, and more.
