John was trapped. Fire in front of him and a wall behind him. The only way out was through the blaze. He had been burning grass when a gust of wind fanned the flames. The inferno quickly grew beyond his control and surrounded him. With no other escape route, he dashed through the fire and collapsed on the other side.
For months, John lay on a hospital bed in Nakuru, Kenya, suffering from his burns. After meeting John and learning that he didn’t have money for treatment, our staff used Project Good Samaritan funds to cover his medical costs. While his burns slowly healed, John received visits from our staff and spiritual discipleship from Pastor Amos, a Kenyan staff member.
Then one morning, our staff learned that John had taken a sudden turn for the worse and passed away. We are grateful for the opportunity to have touched John’s life while he was yet alive. We hope to see him again in a place where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and there shall be no more death . . . neither shall there be any more pain” (Revelation 21:4).
