Seeds, Spoons, and Discipleship

Refugees and migrants from Eritrea, Sudan, Afghanistan, and many other Middle Eastern and African countries come through Lesvos, Greece, an island in the Northern Aegean Sea. Many refugees are trying to escape war and poverty in their home country. CAM is seizing this opportunity to minister to these unsettled people in the following ways.

Spreading the Gospel

Through Bible studies and daily interaction with CAM staff, refugees are hearing the Gospel. Refugees work alongside our staff members on a small vegetable farm, tending and harvesting the vegetables, learning practical skills, and taking part in regular Bible studies.

Teaching Basic Life Skills

An agricultural project and classes for wooden spoon crafting equip refugees with practical skills and an income to help support themselves. Refugees are also given Greek language classes, which are essential to their integration in Greece.

The agricultural project helps train refugees to start their own agricultural businesses by teaching them how to plant, grow, and harvest vegetables. The gardening work also teaches the refugees discipline, responsibility, and teamwork.
