On the Greek island of Lesvos, CAM staff members disciple refugees who escaped war and poverty in their home countries.
Refugees work alongside our staff members on a small vegetable farm, tending and harvesting the vegetables, learning practical skills, and taking part in regular Bible studies. These men also carve spoons from local olive wood as a small way to support themselves.
Every Monday and Friday, bags of fresh vegetables are distributed to needy refugees and Greek families. As our staff members were distributing vegetables, they became friends with Sergio* and Isabella and their three energetic daughters. This family cooked several delicious meals for our staff and church attendees. Later, they started attending the Sunday evening worship service.
Our staff asked Sergio if he had ever read the Bible. Sergio said, “I have never opened a Bible and read in it.” Our staff had the opportunity to share God’s written Word with Sergio and Isabella in their own language for the first time! Sergio is interested in the Bible and reads the Scripture to Isabella at church services since they face a challenging language barrier. Pray that the seeds planted will yield a spiritual harvest.
