Near the Nicaraguan village of Kamla, our staff encountered Derman and Dermin, severely malnourished twins who were almost two years old. On his first visit a staff member reported, “The babies are literally starving to death. I don’t think the one will survive, given the conditions.” Realizing the desperate plight of these twins and their nineteen-year-old mother, our staff members are providing an ongoing supply of nutritional supplements.
After several months of taking these nutrients, the difference in Derman and Dermin is remarkable. They are gaining weight and growing more alert and energetic. Their mother says the first thing they want to do in the morning is eat! Our staff member shared, “Thanks to the support of our donors, we expect these twins to make a full recovery and have a chance in life.”
