The pain and brokenness around the world create needs much greater than CAM is ever able to meet. The cry of the widows and fatherless, the hopelessness of the spiritually hungry, and the pleading of the sick and wounded move us to help where we can. None of our programs can operate without funding. Some programs and projects receive adequate funding from year to year. However, others, like the ones listed below, are most in need of funds. The programs are listed in alphabetical order, not in order of most need. God bless you for your part in ministering to the many physical and spiritual needs around the world.
Adult Disposable Briefs: Adult disposable briefs are a critical need almost everywhere in the world CAM works. Briefs are distributed to people who care for the elderly, paralyzed, or handicapped. Adult briefs are vital in easing the burden of caretakers who have limited resources and often live without running water or indoor plumbing. Due to the sensitive nature of this product and the need to honor the dignity of recipients, it is difficult to communicate this need to donors and raise sufficient funding.
Afghanistan Crisis: Afghanistan’s economy crumbled when the current government came into power in 2021. Construction work stopped, businesses shut down, and banks closed. Countless Afghans lost their sources of income. Through trusted contacts, we help provide basic food items, blankets, and warm clothes for people in Afghanistan. We see this as a unique opportunity to share the love of Jesus in a dark and difficult area of the world. Requests for assistance far exceed our funding capacity.
Bibles for the World: The need for Bibles continues to be huge! While we supply hundreds of thousands of copies per year, we wish we were able to do much more. Presently, the approximate cost per Bible (printed and distributed) is $4.00. Getting God’s Word into the hands of people with limited access, is a high priority for CAM. In addition to Bibles and New Testaments, Bibles for the World also supplies Bible story books, inspirational books, and Bible correspondence courses. God has allowed us to distribute many of these items in unique places of the world. We endeavor to develop long-term relationships with trusted contacts and verify their work to the extent possible. However, independent verification is often limited, which creates a certain amount of financial risk.
Biblical Discipleship Centers: We continue to need funding to operate Biblical Discipleship Centers to provide sound Bible teaching for national pastors and Christian men. The program provides three-week Bible-teaching sessions. Our goal is to promote sound doctrine to attendees so they can return to their home communities and influence their churches in a Biblical way. While the center in Haiti is paused, we are currently operating in Nicaragua and Liberia.
Billboard Evangelism: Christianity is in a downward spiral in the United States, but we have a wonderful and ongoing opportunity to point Americans to Christ! To remind people of God and His truth, CAM has posted more than 1,600 Gospel messages. The messages are scattered throughout all fifty states, mostly on billboards along interstates and major highways. Although we know that some people are being saved, God alone knows the true results.
Christian Family Magazines: Biblical teaching material is scarce and in great demand in many parts of the world. CAM responds to this need by printing and distributing the Antorcha de la Verdad (Torch of Truth), Seed of Truth, and other related Christian magazines. These magazines, written by conservative Anabaptist people, include articles and stories for children, youth, and adults. They are printed in 11 languages and distributed in approximately 100 countries and territories. Although millions of copies are being distributed, the demand and the opportunities are much larger. The average cost per copy is 20 cents.
Christian Schooling for Eastern Europe: The Romanian public school environment is becoming increasingly hostile to Christian values. Immorality and secularism are fast making inroads and leaving negative effects. Many Christians are desperate for an alternative but don’t know where to turn or how to get started. The vision for this program is to provide a Christ-centered solution to the schooling needs of Christian families in Romania and several surrounding countries. The program provides teacher training and supports workers who visit and encourage families. More than 1,000 students are enrolled.
Middle East Crisis: The war and violence that has gripped large swaths of the Middle East has forced millions of people to flee their homes. Thousands of people face displacement, damaged economies, horrible memories of war, the loss of loved ones, everyday struggles to provide, and uncertain futures. CAM is working with contacts to provide food, blankets, and other essentials to refugees and others facing needs. The intense human suffering presents us with unique opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the Middle East.
Project Good Samaritan: This fund meets pressing needs that arise due to medical emergencies, house fires, or other unexpected crises. Often, poverty-stricken people cannot save for such emergencies and are destitute when they occur. Project Good Samaritan mainly operates in countries where CAM has ongoing projects and field staff. This is a favorite program of our field directors.
Search & Rescue: Do you know that more than 1,000 people are reported missing in the United States every day? Many areas have limited resources available to respond to these incidents, so CAM launched the Search & Rescue operation in 2016. Today, more than 275 trained men on ten different teams donate their time to help bring the lost back home. Searching for lost and missing persons gives us an opportunity to touch the lives of people right here in our homeland. Our ultimate goal is to show the love and compassion of Christ to people in distress.
Sudan Crisis: In April 2023, tension between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted into fierce fighting in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum. The conflict quickly spread to other parts of the country. With little regard for human life, the two military factions have been ruthlessly destroying anything or anyone standing in their way. This includes the destruction of crucial infrastructure. The collapse of banks, lack of water and healthcare, and unreliable electricity and communication have crippled the economy, plunging the Sudanese people into peril. More than 10 million people have left their homes, fleeing for safety inside and outside Sudan. CAM is working with contacts to provide food and other emergency aid to displaced people.
Ukraine Crisis: February 24, 2022, marks the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Since then, the country has been rocked by death, devastation, and destruction. CAM helps provide food, Christian literature, blankets, and other aid for people affected by the war. Funds are also being used to facilitate rebuilding projects for those whose homes were damaged by missiles and artillery fire. As much as possible, CAM hires Christian Ukrainian builders who can be a godly influence on homeowners while also having an opportunity to provide for themselves. Significant funding is needed for this large-budget project.
U.S. Migrant Ministry: A lack of economic possibilities and dangerous criminal gangs affect many people across South and Central America. Driven by hope for a better life, people make the arduous journey north to the U.S./Mexico border. They often travel thousands of miles, cross country borders, navigate treacherous trails and endure hunger, fear, and robbery. Tens of thousands finally arrive at the border each month, with few or no possessions and an uncertain future. God is opening doors for us to show compassion and bring His Word to these people. Your support enables workers to provide spiritual teaching, Bibles, Bible story books, and Christian literature. We also support conservative Anabaptist groups ministering to migrants in other parts of the U.S. through English teaching, literature distribution, and other means of outreach.
War in Yemen: Yemen, a poverty-stricken country on the Arabian Peninsula, is being ravaged by war. Since war broke out in early 2015, thousands of people have died, and millions face shortages of food, water, and vital supplies. More than half of the people in Yemen struggle to find enough to eat. CAM is working through contacts to supply food, water systems, and hygiene items for people in this war-torn country.
Work-for-Wages: Haiti continues to be plagued by natural disasters, political unrest, and hunger. Work-for-Wages gives Haitians struggling to make ends meet a chance to earn an income while improving their surroundings. Participants help with organized community projects such as repairing roads, clearing canals, and digging ditches for water conservation. In addition to providing wages, CAM distributes Bibles and Bible story books and employs local pastors to share a daily devotional and prayer with the Work-for-Wages groups.
World Hunger Fund: Rampant inflation, conflict, and other factors have dramatically increased the world hunger problem in recent years. More than 300 million people face each day wondering how they will feed themselves and their children. The World Hunger Fund enables CAM to respond to food-related requests from around the world. Funds help provide food for desperately poor families in Afghanistan, suffering people in war-torn Yemen, struggling families in Eastern European countries, and others without sufficient food.
Where Needed Most: This very helpful fund gives us the flexibility to direct funds to programs that are crucial but not fully funded. It also helps cover the costs of general administration and fundraising, both of which are critical in running the organization.
