CAM teams on standby to respond
As Hurricane Harvey gathers intensity and approaches the coast of Texas, CAM is preparing to help in the aftermath of what may be a destructive and life-threatening storm. Our Loaves & Fishes food kitchen, Search and Rescue teams, generator trailer, and chaplain are headed to Texas, and our Texas Rapid Response team is on standby as well.
The storm is projected to make landfall early Saturday morning as a Category 3 hurricane, and is expected to unleash catastrophic flooding. Torrential rains could fall for four to six straight days, resulting in up to 3 feet of rain—the amount that normally falls over an entire year.
Already Gov. Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency for 30 counties in Texas, and tens of thousands of residents are being evacuated from their homes. Millions of people could be affected as the hurricane moves more than 100 miles inland.
Pray for those in the path of the storm and for our teams as they prepare to help in what may be a difficult and devastating time for the people of southeast Texas.
