South Sudan in northeastern Africa is the world’s newest country. The doors are wide open to spread the Gospel in this region without government restriction. The logistics of doing so, however, are challenging. Because of desperate poverty in South Sudan, many of the main roads throughout the country are impassable.
In spite of the challenges, CAM contacts are distributing a large number of our 101 and 25 Favorite Stories from the Bible books in South Sudan. Thirty-seven churches in the country are using them for Sunday school curriculum and discipleship training. Many schools use them as curriculum for teaching Christianity and as English language textbooks. The attractive pictures in the Bible story books also play an important part in showing the story of the Bible to people who cannot read. Three out of four adults in South Sudan are unable to read and write. The South Sudanese are begging for more books and for people to come teach them more about the stories.
“Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it . . .” (Revelation 3:8).
