Hurricane Ian makes landfall

Hurricane Ian makes landfall in Florida

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida as a category 4 hurricane with dangerous winds of 155 mph. The storm is predicted to continue overnight and into Thursday with heavy winds and rain mixed with possible tornadoes.

About 2.5 million people had mandatory evacuation orders, and over 145,000 power outages were reported this morning even before the hurricane made landfall. Hurricane Ian is projected to be one of the costliest storms in our country’s history.

CAM teams are on standby

Our Rapid Response teams are actively watching the storm and preparing to investigate needs as soon as it is safe to travel. Some of our Florida team members live in areas affected by the hurricane. The Loaves & Fishes Food Kitchen is also on standby in case the need for meals arises. Please pray for protection for the people in the path of Hurricane Ian and for wisdom for our staff and team members preparing to help those in need.
