Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, is in the West Bank and is separated from Israel by the concrete wall seen in the photo below. The “little town of Bethlehem” is now a bustling city of 27,000 people.
Just like when Jesus was born, shepherding is still a part of life in this region. The gift of sheep from CAM helps Camille* in his difficulty to support his own family as well as his deceased brother’s family. “Raising animals is a beautiful work,” says Camille’s son. “This is what our ancestors did.”
CAM also operates a wheelchair shop in Bethlehem. Our staff members visit the homes of needy elderly and handicapped people to deliver new wheelchairs and other supplies for the disabled.
Although Bethlehem was the birthplace of Jesus, many people there know little about Him. As the bright star shone when Jesus was born, our prayer is that the light of Jesus would shine in the hearts of the people of Bethlehem.
